Adjuster (Ajustador): Representative who investigates insurance claims.

Damages (Daños y Perjuicios): Monetary compensation awarded for loss.

Plaintiff (Demandante): Party who brings a lawsuit against another.

Tort (Agravio): A civil wrong causing loss or harm.

Arbitration (Arbitraje): Resolving a dispute outside of court with a neutral third party.

Claimant (Reclamante): A person making a claim for compensation.

Causation (Causalidad): The relationship of cause and effect between an act and the injury.

Indemnity (Indemnización): Security or protection against a loss or other financial burden.

Litigation (Litigio): The process of taking legal action.

Defendant (Demandado): Party being sued in court.

Claim (Reclamación): Formal request for payment under a policy.

Subrogation (Subrogación): Right of an insurer to pursue a third party for loss.

Malpractice (Mala Praxis): Negligent professional activity or treatment.

Discovery (Descubrimiento): Pre-trial phase for exchanging evidence.

Mediation (Mediación): Intervention in a dispute in order to resolve it.

Soft Tissue Injury (Lesión de Tejidos Blandos): Damage to muscles, ligaments, or tendons.

Gross Negligence (Negligencia Grave): Conscious and voluntary disregard of the need to use reasonable care.

Strict Liability (Responsabilidad Objetiva): Liability that does not depend on actual negligence or intent.

Pecuniary Damages (Daños Pecuniarios): Monetary compensation for calculable losses.
